Just days to go for Uttar Pradesh Elections

Political parties have fielded their star campaigners in the state ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in February 2022.

While former CM Akhilesh Yadav is leading the Samajwadi Party’s election campaign, Congress General Secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is making headlines for campaigning in Moradabad, which happens to be the place where her In-laws hail from.

The BJP ruled poll-bound state has also seen top leaders like  Prime Minister Modi himself, along with Home Minister Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh and others hold meetings with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP’s assembly incharges and district chiefs.

The recent inauguration of Jewar’s International Airport, touted to be the biggest in Asia, saw the UP Chief Minister use the ‘ganna vs jinnah’ jibe ahead of the election. The event was attended by PM Modi who also took the opportunity to praise Deputy UP CM Keshav Prasad Maurya.

In the last few days, a new video has gone viral on Twitter, which shows UP CM Yogi Adityanath and others sitting on a stage when he is approached by KP Maurya. In the video, it appears that he spoke to the UP CM and he was told to sit somewhere behind the CM.  It is being shared by multiple users claiming to be an example of strained relations between the UP CM and deputy CM and also alleges his ill treatment by the CM. Some users also allege that he is treated poorly because of his caste.

The UP COngress’ twitter handle went a step further to invoke an earlier controversy, to claim that KP Maurya is constantly ill treated by the UP CM .

The incident in question is from earlier this year, when a photograph of KP Maurya sitting on a stool at an event, besides other BJP ministers and members sitting on chairs had gone viral, leading to a barrage of allegations of his “ill treatment due to caste bias” from the opposition. Leaders like I.P. Singh of the Samajwadi Party tweeted saying “Keshav Prasad must change his name to Stool Prasad.”
