Viral Video Showing Tej Pratap Wishing Lalu Yadav On His Birthday Over Video Call Is Old

A recent video shows Tej Pratap Yadav wishing his father Lalu Prasad Yadav on his birthday over a video call. The RJD supremo celebrated his birthday on June 11.

Tej Pratap Expelled From Party, Family

Lalu Prasad Yadav on May 25, 2025 announced that he had expelled his eldest son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the RJD and family for six years on charges of “irresponsible behaviour” and violation of family values.

“Ignoring moral values ​​in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice. The activities, public conduct and irresponsible behavior of the eldest son are not in accordance with our family values ​​and traditions. Therefore, due to the above circumstances, I remove him from the party and family. From now on, he will not have any role of any kind in the party and family. He is expelled from the party for 6 years,” Yadav stated in an X post. 

Tej Pratap was ousted after a post was shared on his Facebook profile showing him with a woman. The caption indicated they have been in a relationship for 12 years. The post was later deleted and Tej Pratap claimed that his social media handles were hacked and his pictures are being wrongly edited to harass and defame him and his family members. 

We looked up keywords “Tej Pratap,” “Lalu Yadav,” “video call” and “birthday” on YouTube which led us to a report by Bihar Tak, dated June 11, 2023. It featured the same video of Tej Pratap’s interaction with his father and RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav over a video call. 

Another news outlet NBT Bihar-Jharkhand also shared the same video of Tej Pratap Yadav on June 11, 2023 to show him wishing the former Bihar CM on his birthday, further confirming that the video is old.

Tej Pratap Yadav himself shared the viral clip on his official X account in June 2023, stating, “Today on the occasion of my father’s @laluprasadrjd 76th birthday, I wished him a happy birthday through video call, also took his blessings and will cut the cake at Barsana Shri Radha Rani Temple and will take blessings from Braj Saint Shri Ramesh Baba and pray for my father’s long life (translated from Hindi via Google).”

A report by ETV Bharat from June 2023 stated that Tej Pratap celebrated his father’s birthday by cutting a 21-kg cake at the Radharani temple in Mathura’s Barsana. Multiple other outlets such as this, this and this reported on the same.

Hence, we find that the viral video of Tej Pratap wishing Lalu Yadav on his birthday over a video call is from 2023 and has been shared out of context.
