Fact Check
This week social media platforms witnessed a variety of misleading and fake claims being circulated with themes ranging from Coronavirus to Bihar elections, and the Indian flag in Karachi. From an old image from Thailand circulated with misleading claims related to Bihar elections to an edited image shared as the Indian flag waved at a rally in Karachi.

The image in context is from Thailand, when a volunteer distributed alcohol packets to flood victims in Ubon Ratchathani province, 2019.

The viral photograph of BJP’s Dilip Ghosh admitted in a hospital is not from his recent admission after testing positive for COVID-19. The image is from 2018.

Our research makes it clear that the Indian tricolour flag was not waved at the recent rally in Karachi. Photographs from the rally have been edited to spread fake news on social media platforms.
