न्यूजचेकरने प्रथम “Sunil Gavaskar BCC criticism World Cup” साठी कीवर्ड शोध घेतला, ज्याने माजी क्रिकेटपटूच्या अशा विधानाचे कोणतेही विश्वसनीय वृत्त दिले नाही.
त्यानंतर आम्ही गावस्करचा स्टार स्पोर्ट्ससाठीचा वर्ल्ड कप दरम्यानचा सर्वात अलीकडील व्हिडिओ पाहिला, जो येथे पाहता येईल. तेथेही आमच्या निदर्शनास आले की, त्यांनी असे कोणतेही विधान केले नाही.
आणखी एका शोधामुळे आम्हाला Aaj Tak/Sports Tak चे व्यवस्थापकीय संपादक विक्रांत गुप्ता यांनी केलेल्या ट्विटकडे नेले, ज्यांनी गावस्करांच्या नावाने व्हायरल विधान खोटे असल्याचे सांगितले. व्हायरल कोट बनावट असल्याची पुष्टी करणारे ज्येष्ठ पत्रकार राजदीप सरदेसाई यांचे असेच ट्विट येथे पाहिले जाऊ शकते.
गेल्या महिन्यात आशिया चषकादरम्यान भारत-पाकिस्तान सामना रद्द झाल्यानंतर बीसीसीआयवर टीका केली असे सांगत गावसकर यांच्या नावे बनावट दावा झाला होता. न्यूजचेकरने हा दावा खोडून काढला होता.
